10 Things to do in London
London is a beautiful city with so much royal history and iconic landmarks. Even if you’re one of those people who typically likes to go off the beaten path, I think everyone still MUST SEE the classic sights - Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the Tower Bridge (which we’ve always thought was called the London Bridge). After your photo shoot inside one of the famed red phone booths, these are some things you could on your trip:
Go on a Walking Tour - some are free, you just have to tip the guide and this was a great way to see all of London’s sites on a budget! I recommend doing this towards the beginning of your stay so you can be pointed in the right direction for cool neighborhoods and bar scenes from a local perspective
Pints at the Pub - grab a pint of a local ale and a basket of fish & chips, doesn’t get more British than that
Markets - worth a visit for sure! SO MANY markets and food halls, Borough Market, Camden Market being two of my favs; they offer some great food options from all different cuisines. Kiosks line up the grounds delivering so much tasty goodness
Ride the Tube - get a local’s experience as to what public transportation is like in London, this will save you money instead of takingUber’s everywhere
Vintage Shopping - best in East London, you can find lots of fun, quirky trinkets and funky clothing that span the 20th century to bring home as souvenirs or to add to your wardrobe
Afternoon Tea - even if you’re not much of a tea drinker this is a fun, British tradition that will have you feeling like you could really get behind this whole “royal” lifestyle. Kind of like the tea parties you’d host as a little girl, you’re served tea along with three tiers of snacks and treats. There are options all around London for afternoon tea that cater to all budgets
Museums - a lot like Washington DC, there are tons of museums here in London; National Gallery, Modern Art Museum and Science Museum, Churchill War Rooms; most of them are free entry
Ride a Bike through the Hyde Park - rent a bike to explore London’s most expansive green spaces. Lush gardens, flowers and fountains make it a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city streets
Thames Clipper Ride - you can see London’s highlights by walking, biking and even by boat. Jump aboard a Clipper boat for a fabulous cruise down the famous Thames River
Get a Bird’s Eye View of the City - you can either do this with a ticket for the London Eye, the famous ferris wheel for around $34 USD, make your way up to the Shard’s viewpoint for around the same price orrrrrrrrr you can get a great view of the city for free by visiting SkyGardgen London - just need to reserve a time slot
