What I Still Need from Greece
I MUST get back to Greece - partially because I want to eat all the yummy food but mainly because I missed out on some of the country’s best highlights! When I was there, I was 15 and only visited the mainland. To go back now, I think I’d appreciate it in a different way and would change up the itinerary just a bit.
I still need to visit Mykonos. I want to kite surf on the ice blue waters and scoot around the island on my moped to check out the windmills. I want to dance until the sun rises and live out the world-known, off the wall Mykonos nightlife.
I must visit Santorini. I’ll hike a trail along the West coast of the island and enjoy the sunset panoramic views of white washed homes with blue, capped roofs clinging to the cliffside. I’ll ride an ATV to the Red Sand Beach.
Can’t forget Corfu or Crete! Get lost frolicking in the ancient cobble stoned streets. Stop at a small cafe to enjoy a nice midday espresso. Hiking. Captivating seaside towns. Pristine beaches. Historical sites.
I want to make it a point to hop to the other islands that aren’t talked about as much - the hidden gems that don’t get enough publicity. Explore sea caves in Milos. Aimlessly wander through Naxos. Get more of the laid back vibe in Paros. I want to experience it all. I want to go back and participate in the learning of Zorba, the traditional dance. Damn, I’d love to throw some plates on the floor right now..
There’s still so much I need from Greece! Not sure how long I can wait …
