Hungry in Hungary
Dishes full of flavor - paprika, coriander. You should come to this country hungry!
Kürtőskalács - otherewise known as a “chimney cake”, my sweet tooth had to try this yummy treat! a sweet dough that’s shaped into a cylinder baked over charcoal then coated with powder sugar, cocoa, nuts, coconut, or cinnamon. Highly recommend getting one fresh while it’s still warm
Lángos - a deep fried dough usually topped with sour cream, yogurt, garlic and cheese. Kind of a Hungarian pizza..?
Goulash - one of Hungary’s national dishes, a beef stew seasoned with plenty of paprika, perfect for the cold winters
Paprikás Csirke - chicken smothered in a creamy paprika sauce, almost a curry consistency
Toltott Kaposzta - cabbage rolls stuffed with ground meat, rice and sauerkraut that have been stewing in that common paprika sauce. Hungarians typically add sour cream to this to make the perfect bite.
Reflecting back to all this yummy food, I’m ready for another trip to Hungary — who’s coming?
