A Dell Desktop Background
If you’ve ever had a Dell computer, you probably chose this picture as your desktop’s wallpaper. Mainly, because it’s a beautiful picture with pretty hues and nice to look at. What if you could stand right in front of it? Kuang Si Waterfalls are so majestic, I can see how it got it’s place as one of the preset options for a popular computer brand. But the pictures don’t even do it justice!
Located in Luang Prabang, these waterfalls attract thousands of people a year. Mariah and I hopped on our motorbike and used a paper map from our hostel to find this sacred place. I guess that was like a treasure map now that I think of it! We passed through small, dusty villages where children were playing, rice fields, mountains in the distance. It all seemed so pure and untouched. We paid 20,000 LAK or ~$2.50 USD for the entrance fee. Kuang Si is a three tiered waterfall that flows through the limestone rich jungle into a series of cascading pools.
We hiked to the top of the waterfall with a nice couple we met as we stood googly eyed over it’s natural beauty. This chick hiked up the waterfall in wedges! I think she said they were there for a wedding & maybe she forgot to bring flip flops but yeah.. that was bizarre. There wasn’t really a view from the top but it was nice to get the heart rate up (& also entertaining watching our new friend climb a mountain with inappropriate footwear). After exerting all that energy, we took a dunk in one of the pools and stood right under the waterfall allowing the rush of water to pound right on our heads. Ice cold. The Atlantic Ocean on the night of the Titanic status. We certainly felt refreshed after that.
So many hues of blue and green. Rich in nature. The white noise of the flowing water. It’s a special place. I can see why Dell could see the beauty in it too!
PS - I miss you Dell.. I switched to Mac & I regret my decision 1000%
